What Does IGI Certification Actually Mean?
IGI — the International Gemological Institute — is one of the world's largest independent diamond and gemstone grading laboratories. When a diamond is “IGI-certified,” it means the stone has been examined and documented by graders with no stake in the sale.
What Gets Graded
An IGI certificate records the diamond's cut, colour, clarity and carat weight (the 4Cs), along with its measurements and, for lab-grown stones, its growth method and origin. Many stones are also laser-inscribed with the certificate number, so the physical diamond and its paperwork can always be matched.
Why It Matters When Buying Online
You can't hold a diamond up to the light before buying it online. Independent certification is what replaces that in-person inspection — it's a third party confirming the diamond is what the listing says it is.
How Verasah Uses It
Every diamond in a Verasah piece is IGI-certified, and your certificate is provided with your order so the exact stone you're wearing has documented, verifiable proof of quality and origin.
